a little rain can't stop me... [photo heavy]

So remember yesterday's post where I said Mike and I were going to Columbus for a mini roadtrip/day of fun? Well, that didn't happen.

It had been pouring down rain all day and night, but that wasn't going to stop our road trip from being fun. However, an hour before we were going to leave the pipe attached to our sump pump decided to detach and start spraying water all over the place. Thanks to our property management who likes to cut corners and glue PVC pipes together with Krazy glue instead of PVC bond, I had to stay home and wait for a plumber to come fix the thing. Our laundry room walls were covered in water as well as all of Mike's clothing.

By the time the plumber left it was already 3:30 and there was no way the 3 hour drive to and from Columbus would allow and fun to be had. But knowing Mike and I, last minute problems and planning only ever end in even more fun so we hopped in the car for Cincinnati instead.

With some awesome road trip tunes cranking through Mike's speakers and my rain boots on [don't worry, I wiped off Mike's dash board after snapping that pic] we headed down the road. We pass this "Joseph Chevrolet" sign every time we head south but I finally snapped a pic for Mike's brother, Joey.

I can't count how many times we've been down this road but this day, I randomly noticed this odd  looking building behind a taco bell. It was like a factory and castle got together and had a building-baby.

After a short drive we were in the city. But what to do? Head to Newport of course! I love Newport on the Levee so we headed over the river to Kentucky.

Once we got to the Levee we decided to go the the Aquarium. I hadn't been in forever and aquariums are my favorite place. I love love love water animals. It was a Tuesday so no one was there and it was closing in an hour. Honestly, I was a little worried only an hour wouldn't be worth 22 bucks each but we said "what the heck" and bought our tickets.

Candids are always necessary. So is kissing the shark statue in the entry way even though the desk attendant looks at you funny. I need a shirt that says "I'm a blogger. I take a lot of pictures. Deal with it" Who wants one too???

Fishies galore!!! I love puffer/needle fish. They're so funny looking. I'd love to be a fish for a day. As long as I didn't get eaten by a shark. Speaking of shark...

RAWR!!! I love love love the shark tank. These guys are so cool and beautiful. I'd love to swim with one someday. They aren't as mean as people let out to believe. I would know, I watch a lot of Animal Planet haha jk.

Weird little worm fish. They kind of gross me out. Nasty looking electric eels that gross me out even more. They're all still cool in my book.

Now this gator. Oh. My. Goodness. This picture doesn't do it justice. It was no joke 12 feet long and like 4 feet wide. I think my whole body could have fit in it's mouth. We stood over his tank for like 5 minutes trying to figure out if it was real or not. It wasn't moving at all. After what seemed like ages we saw bubbles come out of his nose. IT'S ALIIIIIIIVE. I felt bad for him though. I wanted to free him. He obviously was bored out of his mind.

I don't remember this section from the last time I was here [probably because I was with school and they didn't want us going in here] but it was honestly my favorite part ever! It was the rain forest section and there were birds flying everywhere. The bird attendant had them sitting on her shoulders and told this family behind us that they will bite if you try and touch them. Did that stop me? Nope. I held my hand out and one jumped right on. The lady looked at me like I was crazy. The other family tried to do the same with no luck. I think I had like 3 birds on me. I wish I had a picture. I put one on Mykie and took a pic. They were so fun.

Jelly fish!!!!! Before the birds, this was my favorite exhibit ever. Jelly fish are so interesting to me. They don't even have brains!

Walking on glass like this freaks me out. But I'll do anything for a pic so I sucked it up for 5 seconds to take a picture and jumped right back off :] For those of you who didn't believe me when I said I was 5'10", here's proof. I'm almost as tall as a hammerhead shark!

Before we left we got to pet some sharks. They felt like sand paper. Once again, it kind of grossed me out haha. We watched the penguins for like half an hour and then headed out to find something else to do.

As we were walking to the car we saw this kiosk machine type thing. It sold Reds tickets. WHAT IS TECHNOLOGY COMING TO!?!? I don't know, but I liked it! Mike, being the huge sports nut that he is, knew without checking that there was a game that night and it was against Arizona. We quickly ran over an printed out some cheap tickets and drove over the river once more.

Spontaneous decisions are always the best. We even stopped by the Reds shop and bought tshirts to wear. Our $8.00 seats were actually really nice. The attendant guy even let us go down to the botton and sit at the railing. Skyline conies and La Rosa's pizza for dinner and good old American baseball made the end to the night amazing. The Reds ended up losing, but if you're a real Reds fan it doesn't even matter. It's all about cheering your team on, win or lose and enjoying your time at the ballpark :]

The whole day/evening was so much fun and just the little excursion I needed to motivate me to finish up my Junior year with a bang :] Now I'm off to finish up my studio designs and what not... wish me luck! And don't forget about Melisa's giveaway! It ends Friday!
