Hellloooooo! I just woke up actually. We got home really late last night. Squeezing a 12 hour drive into one day was not the brightest thing I've ever done but what can you do :) So like I said, I'm going to be spliting these photos into a few posts for my own sanity so here are some photos from our little "layover" in Chicago.
We passed through good old Indianapolis on the way to Chicago and grabbed some lunch for the road.
The last time I was in Chicago was about 3 years ago so I hadn't seen these wind turbines before. There were sooooo many of them. You could see thousands along the horizon. It definitely made me feel small on the road to Chicago.
Helloooo Chicago! We got there around 2:00pm but thanks to traffic, trains and lots and lots of people, we weren't to our hotel until 3:00 and weren't in the city for dinner until 5:00. Yikes.
We eventually got tired of walking around and stopped at Houlihan's for dinner along the river. I had a really awesome seafood pasta dish with an even more amazing cocktail that was lemonade with strawberries and basil. I decided to call it "strabasilade" and plan to make it again :]
We didn't do all that much exploring because we will actually be going back to Chicago for an extended weekend in August. But since Mike had never been, I made sure to take him to Millennium Park so he could see the Bean. Needless to say, we had a little fun with it before heading back to our hotel.
The next morning we packed back up [getting to the trunk when you have two bikes attached proved to be a little difficult] and headed back out on the road for our longest stretch of travel to the Cities. Check back tomorrow for our first few days in the Cities!!!
Don't forget to enter the giveaway for a copy of The Big Ass Book of Crafts! If you follow me on Twitter I think I was confused when I said I'd be announcing a winner today.
